Elk River, Minn. (May 6, 2016) —448 of Elk River and surrounding area community members rallied to be a part of the hunger solution through a partnership between Sportech, Inc. and non-profit Feed My Starving Children (FMSC). Volunteers prepared 108,864 life-saving meals at this FMSC MobilePack™. The goal, established by Sportech, Inc. CEO, Chris Carlson, was 100,000 meals. The event took May 5 at the new Carlson Moto headquarters building on the ERX MotorPark premises.

The event comprised of three shifts, among which 504 boxes of meals were packed. One box contains 216 meals, totaling 108,873 meals. This is enough to feed 298 children for one entire year.

The passion and positive energy could be felt the building as teams of volunteers let out a cheer upon the packing of each box. “What a blessing to be at this location and see the passion,” Feed My Starving Children Development Advisor, Judy Watke said. The Sportech and Carlson family have impacted so many lives of family around the world and saved so many little children like Emma.”

Given the number of meals packed and successful volunteer turnout, there is talk to host another Sportech FMSC MobilePack Event and the possibility of increasing the meal packing goal.

“Next year, we should pack more meals. We can add another 4-6 stations and really make and impact!”, an FMSC MobilePack team member said.

Sportech and Feed My Starving Children would like to thank all of the world-class volunteers and contributors to this great event. Community members can still support this MobilePack by making a donation for food production costs.  To donate, visit fmsc.org/mobilepack/events.
